The following is excerpted from a 19 February 2013 news release by Canada Border Services Agency.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced the opening of an additional NEXUS lane at the Pacific Highway border crossing located at Surrey, British Columbia and Blaine, Washington, providing more efficient border clearance for low-risk travellers. Doing this will enhance our throughput capacity and reduce wait times.
Canada and the United States agreed on a plan to implement NEXUS technology at nine border crossings as part of the Canada/U.S. Action Plan on Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness (Action Plan). Under that commitment, two new NEXUS lanes in British Columbia, one at Douglas and one at Abbotsford, opened on November 8, 2012.
