Alternative service delivery for the testing of grain exports – Private laboratory now available

The CFIA's REGAL (Recognition of Export Grain Analysis by Authorized Laboratories) program has authorized the first private laboratory to test grain export shipments to China, India and Mexico. The laboratory will test for weed seeds, percentage of soil and live insect detection.

Effective immediately, test results from Kent Agri Laboratory can be used to issue a phytosanitary certificate. Once laboratories receive their official authorization from the CFIA, they will be included as eligible testing laboratories.

The official list of authorized laboratories for the REGAL program is available at the following link: http://inspection.gc.ca/eng/1516725808194/1516725808990

The Guidance for Exporters on how to use the REGAL authorized laboratories to test grain samples for phytosanitary certification is available at the following link: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/eng/1519334697395/1519334697900

The CFIA will continue to offer tests for weed seeds, percentage of soil and/or live insects during the initial phase of REGAL program. Only the CFIA can issue a phytosanitary certificate.
