The following is a message from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Vice-President, Programs Branch.
We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Richard Wex joined the CBSA as Associate Vice-President, Programs Branch, on February 25, 2013.
Mr. Wex joins us from Public Safety Canada, where he held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister, Law Enforcement and Policing Branch since 2007. In this capacity, Mr. Wex was responsible for developing legislation, policies and national strategies to combat serious and organized crime across Canada and at our borders, and was charged with providing policy advice to the Minister of Public Safety in carrying out his responsibilities for the RCMP and CBSA. Mr. Wex brings to the CBSA his experience in advancing a number of cross border law enforcement initiatives, including co-chairing the Canada-US Cross Border Crime Forum and, more recently, advancing commitments under the Beyond the Border Action Plan.
Prior to joining Public Safety Canada, Mr. Wex held senior positions with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Department of Justice.
Mr. Wex will be working closely with you as the CBSA continues to build on its commitment to stakeholder engagement to advance its various initiatives. Please join me in welcoming Richard to the CBSA.
