Cabinet Shuffle

Members may be interested in the following cabinet changes announced this morning.

Steven Blaney was named Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, replacing Vic Toews.

Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, will remain in that position.

Other changes are:

  • Peter MacKay and Rob Nicholson switched jobs. MacKay is now justice and Nicholson is national defence.
  • Chris Alexander is the new citizenship and immigration minister, replacing Jason Kenney.
  • Jason Kenney is the minister for a new portfolio called employment and social development, replacing the human resources and skills development department.
  • James Moore is the new industry minister, replacing Christian Paradis.
  • Christian Paradis is the new international development minister.
  • Shelly Glover is the new heritage minister, replacing James Moore.
  • Kellie Leitch is the new labour minister, replacing Lisa Raitt.
  • Lisa Raitt is the new transport minister, replacing Denis Lebel.
  • Denis Lebel is now responsible for infrastructure.
  • Leona Aglukkaq moves to environment from health, replacing Peter Kent.
  • Rona Ambrose moves to health from public works.
  • Candice Bergen is a new minister of state for social development.
  • Greg Rickford is the new minister of state for science and technology.
  • Kevin Sorensen is the new minister of state for finance.
  • John Duncan is the new government whip, replacing Gordon O'Connor.
  • Pierre Poilievre is the new minister of state for democratic reform.
  • Rob Moore minister of state for Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
  • Lynne Yelich is the new minister of state for foreign affairs and consular services.
