Canada Further Tightens Sanctions on Iran

The following is excerpted from DFAIT news release on 29 May 2013.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird issued the following statement:

“Canada’s grave and sincere concern over Iran’s nuclear program again compels us to act decisively…

 “The absence of progress with both the P5+1 [the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany] and the [International Atomic Energy Agency] IAEA leads Canada to ban, effective immediately, all imports to and exports from Iran. ..
