Canada trade deficit hits record in July; exports slide

Canada posted its biggest trade deficit on record in July as crude oil exports tumbled and imports from the United States remained near record highs, according to Statistics Canada data on Tuesday.

The overall deficit bulged to C$2.34 billion ($2.36 billion) from a revised C$1.93 deficit in June. Exports fell 3.4 percent and imports decreased by 2.2 percent in the month.
