CBSA Message: Federal Budget

The following message is from CBSA (EDI13-021).

The following is a message for all CADEX and CUSDEC clients.

In accordance with the Federal Budget of March 21, 2013, effective immediately, the excise duty rates on manufactured tobacco associated with the following HS codes are changing:
2403.11.00.00
2403.19.00.11
2403.19.00.21
2403.19.00.91
2403.91.10.10
2403.91.20.10
2403.91.90.10
2403.99.10.10
2403.99.90.11
2403.99.90.91

Given that clients’ systems will not be auto-updated because the auto-update flags have been turned off in preparation for the new Panama Tariff, please query the system to obtain the updated rates, which are effective today. Clients transmitting their final accounting documents quoting incorrect rates will receive reject messages.

Information regarding the tariff relief on sports and athletic equipment and baby clothes, effective April 1st, will be forthcoming next week.
