CBSA Message: RESOLVED - TCC21-005 - SWI IID Issue - Date of Direct Shipment Rejects for Global Affairs Canada Regulated Goods

Notice received: Friday 2021-01-15  8:17 AM ET

Start Date / Time: 2021-01-06 / 08:00 ET
End Date / Time: 2021-01-15 / 08:00 ET

The problem reported below has now been resolved. All systems are functioning normally.

Please be advised that the issue described below has been reported to impact other PGA regulated goods. CBSA Trade Chain Partners are experiencing delays with CFIA regulated IIDs as well as rejects from Transport Canada’s Appendix F program. The CBSA is continuing to investigate the system problem, however an interim solution has been determined.

The issue occurs when the name and address elements are missing from any of the submitted parties listed in SG7.NAD.  This would include NAD party qualifiers such as IM – Importer, CB – Customs Broker, AE – Declarant’s representative, HQ – Account Owner.

Example:
NAD+CB+12345

If all of the Party details are provided in the segment, including the name and address, the issue should not occur. If any of the name and address fields are left blank in SG7, processing delays/issues may arise.

The EDI will look like the following example:

NAD+CB+12345++Broker Name+Street Name+CITY+ON+K2L3V5+CA'

Please note if a NAD party qualifier is not applicable, do not provide that segment.

*****

Please be advised that we are experiencing a system issue with certain SWI IID transmissions for  goods that are regulated by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).  A system reject message is being generated with the following wording : “The Direct Shipment Date is missing or invalid” even though the Date of Direct Shipment details has been provided on the IID.

We are working to resolve this problem and will update this message as soon as more information is available. We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

Action Required:

The outage is resolved and clients can revert to normal procedures.
