Further to Customs Notice CN14-021 pertaining to the implementation of the Canada-Honduras Free Trade Agreement, please be advised that the classification and tariff code files will be available the week of October 1, 2014.
Given that this will be a large update, the classification and tariff code flags have been turned off* until this update has been done. Please note there is a new Tariff Treatment being added to most classification numbers, and as such, the update will be larger than the year end files.
Due to the size of the files, they will not be downloaded into your system. You will be able to access the files in CADEX format when they become available on the CBSA website at http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2014/menu-eng.html.
An UPDATE to this Bulletin will be sent once the CADEX format files have been posted.
* CSCB sought clarification from CBSA on "turning off the classification and tariff code flags". The following is the CBSA response:
The Classification and Tariff Code Flags turned off means that the clients will not receive any Classification or Tariff Code updates/expiries resultant from the updating of these files in preparation for the Canada-Honduras Free Trade Agreement. Because the Trade Agreement affects virtually every classification number, both the update file and the expiry file will be quite large. For that purpose it is necessary to turn the flags to N until the process is complete. The flags will be turned off until October 2, 2014 at which time we will put them back to Y. Please note, this process is no different than the steps we take every year end in preparation for the new classification file each January.
We are aiming to have [CADEX format files] posted on the website the first week of October and will advise once updated.
