Happy International Customs Day which is celebrated around the world on January 26.
The CSCB community is essential to moving goods across borders, supporting the work of Customs and other border agencies with a focus on security, compliance and facilitation. We have extensive and close ties with stakeholders in Canada and internationally. We are closely connected with and appreciate the leadership of the World Customs Organization (WCO), especially during the challenges and uncertainties of the past year due to COVID-19. On January 26th we are happy to join the WCO and its members as we all celebrate International Customs Day.
WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya has sent the following message on this occasion:
Once again, the Customs community comes together, united in celebrating International Customs Day, which officially falls on 26 January of each year. This special day enables WCO Members, the WCO Secretariat and Customs’ worldwide partners to dedicate themselves to taking forward a particular theme. Thus, throughout 2021, under the slogan “Customs bolstering Recovery, Renewal and Resilience for a sustainable supply chain,” the Customs community will be focusing on emerging from the global pandemic, and supporting people and businesses by strengthening the global supply chain, reinforcing collaboration, harnessing technology and putting “people” at the centre of the transformation process.
Dr. Mikuriya’s entire message can be found here.
Recovery. Renewal. Resilience. May these words be reflected in all we do in the coming year, as Customs and trade professionals and as Canadians.
