CFIA-AIRS Updates, 31 October

A) Chapter 03 was published to add the miscellaneous codes “Consignment requires certification”, “Consignment destined to an approved facility by the Office of Biohazard Containment and Safety” and “Consignment destined to a CFIA approved quarantine unit”  to the following HS codes with the end use “research and educational use”.

03.01 - Live fish.
03.02 - Fish, fresh or chilled, excluding fish fillets and other fish meat of heading No. 03.04..
03.03 - Fish, frozen, excluding fish fillets and other fish meat of heading No. 03.04..
03.06 -  Crustaceans, whether in shell or not, live, fresh, chilled, frozen, dried, salted or in brine; smoked crustaceans, whether in shell or not, whether or not cooked before or during the smoking process; crustaceans, in shell, cooked by steaming or by boiling crustaceans, fit for human consumption.
03.07 -  Molluscs, whether in shell or not, live, fresh, chilled, frozen, dried, salted or in brine; smoked molluscs, whether in shell or not, whether or not cooked before or during the smoking process; flours, meals and pellets of molluscs, fit for human con invertebrates other than crustaceans, fit for human consumption.

B) Chapter 05 was published to:

i) add the miscellaneous codes “Consignment requires certification”, “Consignment destined to an approved facility by the Office of Biohazard Containment and Safety” and “Consignment destined to a CFIA approved quarantine unit”  to the following HS codes with the end use “research and educational use”.

05.11.91.4001.65 - Danio rerio - TSN 163699 - Zebrafish (germplasm).
05.11.91.4002.80 - Hippoglossus hippoglossus - TSN 172933 - Atlantic halibut (germplasm).
05.11.91.4003.32 - Lates calcarifer - TSN 167669 - Barramundi (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.02 - Oncorhynchus clarkii - TSN 161983 - Cutthroat trout (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.08 - Oncorhynchus keta - TSN 161976 - Chum salmon (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.11 - Oncorhynchus kisutch - TSN 161977 - Coho salmon (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.20 - Oncorhynchus nerka - TSN 161979 - Sockeye salmon (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.26 - Oncorhynchus tshawytscha - TSN 161980 - Chinook salmon (germplasm).
05.11.91.4005.41 - Oreochromis niloticus - TSN 553310 - Nile tilapia (germplasm).
05.11.91.4006.35 - Pimephales promelas - TSN 163517 - Fathead minnow (germplasm).
05.11.91.4007.08 - Salvelinus alpinus - TSN 162001 - Arctic charr (germplasm).
05.11.91.4007.20 - Salvelinus namaycush - TSN 162002 - Lake trout (germplasm).

ii) change the registration types and modify the import conditions for the following HS codes originating from Norway.

05.11.91.1994 - Fish meal (made exclusively of fish bones, shells of crustaceans or other aquatic invertebrates). 
05.11.91.2000 - Fish and shellfish products
05.11.99.1995.17 - Fish meal (made exclusively of fish bones, shells of crustaceans or other aquatic invertebrates).

C) Chapter 23 was published to change the registration types and modify the import conditions for the following HS code originating from Norway.

23.01.20 - Flours, meals and pellets, of fish or of crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates.
