CFIA-AIRS Updates March 9th 2020

A) Chapter 01 was published to remove a registration type for the following HS codes with the end use “Travellers & Personal use and not for resale or distribution” originating from the United States. NO VERSION CHANGE.

01.06.32 - Psittaciformes (including parrots, parakeets, macaws and cockatoos). 01.06.39.2096 - Songbirds over 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines)). 01.06.39.2097 - Songbirds less than 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines)). 01.06.39.2106.06 - Other birds over 3 days old. - Toucans. 01.06.39.2107.06 - Other birds less than 3 days old. - Toucans.  

B) Chapter 05 was published to:

i) remove a registration type and modify the import conditions for the following HS codes with the end uses "Animal Feed" and "Pet food manufacturing" originating from the United States. NO VERSION CHANGE.

05.11.99.1297.01 - Whole carcass or body parts, preserved in formaldehyde or other preserving solution, or unpreserved, not suitable for human consumption, not elsewhere specified or included. - Avian (bird) 05.11.99.1297.02 - Bovine (cattle) 05.11.99.1297.03 - Caprine (goat) 05.11.99.1297.04 - Equine (horse) 05.11.99.1297.05 - Ovine (sheep) 05.11.99.1297.06 - Porcine (swine) 05.11.99.1297.13 - Lagomorph (rabbit) 05.11.99.1297.99 - Other

ii) change the release recommendation from “Refer to CFIA - NISC” to “Approved” for the following HS codes originating from the United States.

05.05.10.1258 - Unprocessed feathers, quills or plumes. 05.05.90.1258 - Unprocessed feathers or plumes. 05.11.99.1297.01 - Whole carcass or body parts, preserved in formaldehyde or other preserving solution, or unpreserved, not suitable for human consumption, not elsewhere specified or included. - Avian (bird). 05.11.99.1298.01 - Laboratory or tissue samples, fresh, frozen or fixed. - Avian (bird). 05.11.99.1299.09 - Cell lines. - Avian (bird). 05.11.99.1302.05 - Animal tissues, fluids or manure on DNA or RNA preservation cards. - Avian (bird).

C) Chapter 12 was published to add the following OGD extension.

12.07.99.0118.04 - Cuphea lanceolata.

This created a requirement version change for the following HS codes with the end use “Further processing”.

12.07.30.0120 - Castor oil seeds (Ricinus communis). 12.07.99.0118.06 - Limnanthes alba (white meadowfoam). 12.07.99.0118.07 - Crambe abyssinica (crambe).
