CFIA-AIRS Updates September 13th, 2022

A) Chapter 06 was published to:

i) change the release recommendation from “Refuse entry” to “Refer to CFIA-NISC” for the following HS codes with the end use “Propagation (growing or sowing)” originating from the State of New York.

06.02.10.0009.18 - Grape - Unrooted plants (Vitis spp.). 
06.02.20.0017.51 - Grape - rooted plants (Vitis spp.). 
06.02.90.0026.23 - Grape (Vitis spp.) - in vitro plants. 

ii) change the release recommendation from “Refer to CFIA-NISC” to “Refuse entry” for the following HS code with the end use “Propagation (growing and sowing)” originating from the State of South Carolina.

06.02.90.0026.03 – Apple (Malus spp., Malus pumila) - in vitro plants. (Malus spp.), (Malus pumila)

iii) change the release recommendation from “Refuse entry” to “Refer to CFIA-NISC” for the following HS codes with the end use “Propagation (growing and sowing)” originating from the States of Delaware, New  York, Ohio and Tennessee.

06.02.90.0026.15 - Pear (Pyrus spp.) - in vitro plants.
06.02.90.0026.21 - Quince, Chinese quince (Cydonia spp., Chaenomeles spp., Pseudocydonia spp.) - in vitro plants.

iv) change the release recommendation from “Refuse entry” to “Refer to CFIA-NISC” for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from New York and Ohio.

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

v) add the miscellaneous codes “Destined to an area regulated for Gypsy Moth” and “Destined to an area not regulated for Gypsy Moth”  and modified the import conditions for the following HS code originating from the States of Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania destined to Ontario.

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

vi) add the miscellaneous codes “From regulated US areas for gypsy moth” and “From a non-regulated US area for gypsy moth” and modified the import conditions for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from the State of Minnesota destined to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan and Yukon.

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

vii) modified the import conditions for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from the States of Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania destined to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec. 

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

viii) streamlined the requirements for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from the State of Pennsylvania destined to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan and Yukon.

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

ix) streamlined the requirements for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from the States of Idaho and Montana.

06.04.20.0045.13 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Apple and crabapple (Malus spp.).

x) change the release recommendation from “Refuse entry” to “Refer to CFIA-NISC” for the following HS code with the end use “Ornamental use” originating from the State of New York.

06.04.20.0045.16 - Foliage, branches - fresh - Grape (Vitis spp).

B) Chapter 08 was published to add the end use "Further processing” to the following HS codes.

08.10.40.4018.01 - Cranberries (fresh). (Vaccinium macrocarpon, V. oxycoccos.)
08.10.40.4018.02 - Cranberries (fresh) - (Vaccinium macrocarpon, V. oxycoccos.) - Organic
