For those who declare Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulated imports using the Integrated Import Declaration (IID), this is to announce improvements effective December 19, 2018. Changes are in the following areas:
- Clients will receive more descriptive “rejection” notices moving forward, should their declarations be rejected. All rejection notices sent to clients who use the IID will now include the invoice number, Government Agency Goods Item Details (GAGI) number (line item identifier) and commodity number (goods item number) indicated on the IID declaration. If a rejection notice is received, the importer can now cross-check the invoice number, GAGI number and commodity number to determine which item on their import declaration caused the rejection.
- Additionally, CFIA has modified the CFIA appendix in the Single Window Initiative, Integrated Import Declaration, Electronic Commerce Client Requirements Document (ECCRD) - Chapter 23, to include rules enabling the ability to declare Delivery Parties at the Invoice level of the IID declaration.
For information related to the changes to the CFIA appendix, please see the bulletin TCC18-168 that was sent on December 13, 2018 by The Canada Border Services Agency.
