CN 19-02, Amendment to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff

1. The purpose of this notice is to advise that Vietnam has ratified the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Tariff (CPTPP) Agreement. As a result Vietnam will be entitled to CPTPP tariff treatment beginning January 14, 2019. For more information see Tariff elimination for Vietnam at: About tariff elimination under the CPTPP.

2. The list of countries in the Customs Tariff has been updated to include the CPTPP tariff treatment for Vietnam.

3. For certainty regarding the tariff classification of a product, importers may request an advance ruling for tariff classification. Details on submitting a request for an advance ruling can be found in the Memorandum D11-11-3, Advance Rulings for Tariff Classification.
