Previously, any outbound AES/ITN/EEI rail shipment exported from the U.S., through the port of Port Huron, that was found by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to have an inaccurate ITN number was placed in a status commonly called the “15 business day hold.” This allowed the exporter fifteen days, after departure, to provide the appropriate or corrected ITN number.
Effective immediately, CBP, citing Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations (FTSR), Section 30.45, has advised CN that all filing citations, exclusions, and/or exemption legends shall be presented to a CBP Export Control Officer at the port of export prior to departure. Read the bulletin.
