Comprehensive Review of Tariff Rate Quota Administration

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) would like to inform you of the official launch of its public stakeholder consultation regarding the tariff rate quotas (TRQs) for supply managed products established under the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and potentially, the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
The purpose of this consultation is to inform the decision of the Minister of International Trade Diversification regarding the allocation methods and administrative policies of Canada’s supply managed TRQs.

There are various ways in which TRQs can be allocated and administered. In order to implement TRQs in an effective manner, the minister is seeking the views of stakeholders with an interest in Canada’s dairy, poultry and egg sectors.

We would like to hear from all sectors of Canadian society and international stakeholders with an interest in supply managed TRQs, including:

  • Producers, manufacturers, processors, further processors, distributors, retailers, importers, and industry associations;
  • Small, medium and large enterprises;
  • Provincial and territorial governments;
  • National, regional, provincial, and territorial associations;
  • Trade partners; and
  • The general public.
