COOL and Canada’s Proposed Retaliation

Further to a CSCB message posted on June 10 regarding Canada’s potential retaliation against the United States Country of Origin Labelling (COOL) requirements, additional information is available in the Canada Gazette at http://gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2013/2013-06-15/html/notice-avis-eng.html#d115.

Included in the Gazette is a list of goods that may be subject to a surtax, if and when Canada is authorized by the WTO to do so, as well as a Department of Finance address where comments can be sent. The deadline for comment is September 30, 2013.
