CSCB recognizes International Customs Day and International Customs Brokers Day

January 26th is International Customs Day, recognized by Customs Administrations all over the world and especially at the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Brussels.

The WCO is dedicating 2024 to Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose, and has posted a message.

New this year, the International Federation of Customs Broker Associations (IFCBA) is recognizing International Customs Brokers Day at the same time.

Customs brokers are the original “trusted traders,” and the international trade community depends on the work done by customs brokers to navigate the maze of security and regulatory requirements to keep trade flowing worldwide.

In today’s volatile and uncertain trade environment—fueled by domestic pressures related to CARM implementation and Customs Act changes, as well as supply chain disruptions driven by geopolitical uncertainty—it is more important than ever that customs brokers are “engaged with purpose” by customs administrations.

The CSCB remains committed to engaging with purpose on behalf of our Members through constructive advocacy with the CBSA and other government departments.

On this International Customs Day and International Customs Brokers Day, we celebrate the essential partnership between customs administrations and customs brokers to ensure the security of our border while facilitating the efficient movement of low-risk goods.
