Deregulation of soybean cyst nematode

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is deregulating soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) and, as of November 25, 2013, will no longer be enforcing import requirements related to this plant pest. These changes affect: soybean seed; potatoes and potato articles; root crops, vegetables with attached roots, and mushrooms; and plants and plant parts for planting.

Implementation of related changes to the Automated Import Reference System and Permits to Import will proceed in stages, depending on the commodity. The CFIA's information webpage on soybean cyst nematode provides more details on the changes and timelines for implementation; please see
