EICS Bulletin : Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) Tariff Preferential Levels - Notices to importers and exporters

This message is to inform you that, subsequent to Canada’s April 3, 2020 ratification of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), the Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade has established the administration of the Tariff Preferential Levels (TPL) under CUSMA, and related Notices to Importers and Exporters are now available on the Global Affairs website.

The Notices set out the administration of the Tariff Preferential Levels, and identify where import permits / certificates of eligibility are required.

In accordance with CUSMA, the Tariff Preferential Level year will normally extend from January 1 to December 31 inclusive. Upon entry into force of CUSMA on July 1, 2020, the Tariff Preferential Level year for implementation year only will extend from July 1 to December 31, 2020.  Tariff Preferential Level quantities for year 1 of CUSMA implementation are not pro-rated and the full quota quantities are accessible for imports and exports.
