Employment Gains Traction

The following is excerpted from a 5 October 2012 release by The Conference Board of Canada.

The Canadian economy churned out strong employment gains in September, with full-time jobs making up the majority of the increase. Following a summer lull, labour markets showed strength heading into the fall season. The economy added 52,100 jobs last month, with full-time jobs accounting for 85 per cent of the gains. The unemployment rate, however, edged up to 7.4 per cent as more people began looking for work.
