Energy Star Specification Updates

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has issued the following communiqué regarding revised qualifying criteria for gas and oil furnaces. The new criteria will come into effect on  February 1st, 2013.

This is a reminder about the new reporting requirements for both oil and gas/propane fired furnaces as of February 1st, 2013.  This is a continuation of the Version 3.0 technical specification that came into effect on February 1st, 2012, which had a requirement for Furnace Fan Efficiency (e).  
 
In order for a furnace to be ENERGY STAR qualified under Version 4.0, it will need to meet the new requirement for Air Leakage (Qleak).
