Heavy plate - Statement of reasons: Preliminary determination

Concerning the preliminary determination with respect to the dumping of heavy plate from the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu (Chinese Taipei), Germany, Turkey and regarding the termination of the investigation with respect to the dumping of heavy plate from Malaysia and South Korea.

Pursuant to subsection 31(1) of the Special Import Measures Act, the Canada Border Services Agency initiated an investigation on May 27, 2020, respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain hot‑rolled carbon steel heavy plate and high‑strength low‑alloy heavy steel plate from the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu (Chinese Taipei), Germany, Malaysia, South Korea and Turkey.

On October 9, 2020, pursuant to paragraph 35(2)(a) of SIMA, the CBSA terminated the dumping investigation with respect to certain hot‑rolled carbon steel heavy plate and high‑strength low alloy heavy steel plate originating in or exported from Malaysia and South Korea.
