Integrated Import Declaration (IID) Ministerial Exemption

This message is to inform Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) clients that declare imports using the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Integrated Import Declaration (IID) message of an update to the declaration system.

Previously, IID declarations with the AIRS registration type 96, Approved Ministerial Exemption with original signature (de-materialized Licence, Permit, Certificate or Other Document (LPCO)), were not being processed correctly by the CFIA. The CFIA updated the system on February 19th, and all declarations submitted through the IID are now being processed properly. Moving forward, please submit declarations with the AIRS registration type 96 through the IID, rather than by fax.

The CFIA will continue to closely monitor the IID system to make sure that any other issues that arise are resolved promptly. Those who declare CFIA regulated imports to the CBSA are encouraged to start using the IID for all CFIA regulated import declarations. To learn more about the IID and how to become certified to start using it, visit the CBSA website.
