Maersk Service BC Landslide Impact

Following is a Customer Advisory from Maersk.

We would like to update you on the situation in Western Canada in relation to the significant rainfall resulting in multiple slides coming off the mountains.

Transportation modes impacted: Rail services coming in and out of the Port of Vancouver have been restored, however at a limited pace.

CN: Resumed service over the weekend and since then have been moving trains through the region where the repairs were completed. CN is still running limited service on CP as well; trains are moving on both lines at  reduced speed based on restrictions for safety.
Export: CN continues to open capacity towards Port of Vancouver based on vessel cut off. Reefers are slowly reopening but we don’t expect Calgary and Winnipeg to Port of Vancouver to reopen until next week.

CP: With CN lines cleared, CP expects continued increase in train operations. Expect this week to be heavier for
both import traffic arriving for CP terminals and railcar supply arriving to Port of Vancouver.

Re-opened/Accepting:
VAUGHAN: Export Loads and Pre-gate billed empties to Deltaport/Centerm/
Export loads to Port of Montreal
LACHINE: Export Loads and Pre-gate billed empties to Deltaport/Centerm
BENSENVILLE: Loads destined to Minneapolis
VIF (CP VCR): Dry Imports from FSD + Exports VIF to POM
The situation remain very fluid, we expect to continue seeing delays in/out of Port of Vancouver, we will keep diverting inland cargo to other gateways to help the movement and flow of your supply chain during high season.

Currently Maersk Singapore, MSC Lily are working at Prince Rupert terminal discharge rail units to move via CN to their respective final destinations. GSL Myny expect to call Prince Rupert December 8 & MSC Mundra December 12th. Local Vancouver cargo will be discharged at Centerm, Vancouver.

We will continue monitoring the situation and access any further vessel diversion as needed.

Impact to Maersk operations: Our offices are open and working – and not impacted since most of our staff are working from home. Our warehouses are open and working.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this disruption has caused and we thank you for your patience during this period.
