Message from the CSCB President: E-Commerce – Opportunities for Customs Brokers

The First Global Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference was held February 9-10 in Beijing. The conference was co-organized by the World Customs Organization and China Customs with almost 2,000 participants from various regions of the world. CSCB President Carol West was asked to speak on one of the breakout panel sessions, in her role representing IFCBA as a co-lead for the Trade Facilitation and Simplification sub-group of the WCO Working Group on E-Commerce.

An outcome of the conference is the Beijing Declaration.

In addition to the official Beijing Declaration, a Call for Actions by China Cross-border E-commerce Enterprises was issued.

The World Customs Organization is continuing work on its draft Cross Border E-Commerce Framework of Standards which is expected to be presented to the WCO Council meeting in June.
