This message pertains to the additional Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) volume for refined sugar exports to the United States under the Canada-United States – Mexico Agreement, referred to in Notice to exporters – Serial No. 1066 (“the Notice”).
Pursuant to the Notice, access to available quantities under the TRQ is contingent on the United States deciding to increase the amount of in-quota tariff rate imports of refined sugar in any given calendar year. While access to the available quantities under the TRQ is contingent on a decision by the United States, Global Affairs Canada is soliciting anticipatory applications from Canadian exporters interested in receiving an allocation under the TRQ should the United States decide to increase the amount of in-quota tariff rate imports of refined sugar. In order for Global Affairs Canada to have the information necessary to be able to quickly calculate quota allocations for eligible exporters if and when a decision is taken by the United States, the department will start accepting applications for potential TRQ allocations in the 2023 quota year from February 1 to March 1, 2023. For the 2024 quota year and beyond, the application period for potential TRQ allocations will run from January 1 to March 1.

Applicants must resubmit an application in each year in order to be considered for the new period, regardless of whether or not the quota opened in the previous year.
Avis à l’intention de l’industrie – Expression d’intérêt – Contingent tarifaire de sucre raffiné (quantité additionnelle) destiné à être exporté vers les États-Unis dans le cadre de l’Accord Canada-États-Unis-Mexique
Le présent avis concerne le contingent tarifaire (CT) pour le sucre raffiné mentionné au sous-paragraphe (c) du CT désigné sous l’appellation « CT – US 9 » de l’Accord Canada-États-Unis-Mexique (ACEUM), référé dans l’avis aux exportateurs – No. 1066 (l’avis).
Conformément à l’avis, l’accès aux quantités disponibles dans le cadre de ce CT dépend d’une décision par les États-Unis d’augmenter le montant d’importations soumises au CT pour le sucre raffiné dans une année donnée. Bien que l’accès aux quantités disponibles dans le cadre de ce CT dépende d’une décision par les États-Unis, Affaires mondiales Canada sollicite des demandes anticipatives des exportateurs intéressés à recevoir une allocation dans le cadre de ce CT au cas où les États-Unis décident d’augmenter le montant d’importations soumises au CT pour le sucre raffiné. Afin qu’Affaires mondiales Canada dispose des informations nécessaires pour pouvoir calculer les allocations pour les exportateurs admissibles rapidement si et quand une décision est prise par les États-Unis, le ministère commencera à accepter les demandes pour les allocations CT potentielles pour l’année contingentaire 2023 du 1er février au 1er mars 2023. Pour l’année contingentaire 2024 et au-delà, la période d’application se déroulera du 1er janvier au 1 mars.
