Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the new Cabinet. Overall there are 39 members of the new cabinet, with just seven ministers retaining the same titles and positions they previously held.
The Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness portfolio has been split in two, with Minister Bill Blair maintaining the Emergency Preparedness portfolio and assuming responsibility as the president of the Privy Council, while Minister Marco Mendicino is appointed to Public Safety, with responsibility for CBSA. Replacing Minister Mendicino as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister is Sean Fraser.
The new Minister of Foreign Affairs is Minister Mélanie Joly, replacing Marc Garneau who is no longer in Cabinet, and Minister and Minister Harjit Sajjan is now the Minister of International Development. Minister Anita Anand has been appointed Minister of National Defence.
