Notice to Importers No. 1087 – Amendment to the Import Control List: Chemical Weapons

The purpose of this Notice is to advise importers that, pursuant to an Order amending the Import Control List, a regulatory amendment to that list was approved on June 24, 2022. This amendment results in the addition of one toxic chemical and three families of toxic chemicals that have recently been added to Schedule 1A of the Chemical Weapons Convention Schedule to the Import Control List (ICL) and addresses editorial issues raised by the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.

Import permits will now be required to import these chemicals into Canada. Importers should also be aware of related obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act.

Specific details regarding this amendment are now published in the Canada Gazette Part II at the following link.
