Notice to Importers No. 945

Further to information posted in Customs 19-08, Global Affairs Canada has now issued Notice to Importers No. 945. This notice includes details regarding the imposition of final safeguards on imports of heavy plate and stainless steel wire, effective May 13, 2019.

The safeguard measures are imposed in the form of tariff-rate quotas (TRQ), whereby imports exceeding the TRQ will be subject to a surtax. The TRQ will be administered by way of shipment-specific permits issued by Global Affairs Canada. Details concerning Global Affairs Canada’s administration of the TRQ, including allocation, can be found in Notice to Importer No. 945 and CBSA Customs Notice 19-08.
