Onboarding of the Integrated Import Declaration

This is an important reminder for all those who declare plant, animal, and food imports to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) that the deadline to become certified to use the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) process is next month.

Clients are strongly encouraged to submit their application to IID as soon as possible as the CBSA is expecting higher application volumes beginning in the New Year. To become certified, or obtain more information, contact the CBSA’s Technical Commercial Client Unit:

  • Tel:

1-888-957-7224

  • Fax:

343-291-5482

  • Email:

[email protected]

Those who use a service provider should contact them immediately to discuss the testing and certification process.

Important Note:

On January 15, 2019, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) will come into effect. The import process will remain the same; however, the CFIA-issued permit needed for food imports will change.

Find out if your business requires a Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence by visiting: www.inspection.gc.ca/safefood
