Penalty waiver for August 5 2013

The CSCB has been advised that CBSA will proactively waive late accounting penalties resulting from the August 5, 2013 Civic Holiday. The penalties will be waived where a shipment was released in a province that did not observe the holiday, such as Quebec, and the importer’s or broker’s office of central accounting was in a province that observed the holiday. Penalties will not be waived in situations where the final accounting was due before the Civic Holiday but was not transmitted and accepted until after the holiday.
