Québec Regulatory Update

On August 30, 2017, the Cabinet issued Decree No. 875-2017 adopting the Regulation respecting the energy efficiency of electrical or hydrocarbon-fuelled appliances.

The Regulation, which was published in the Gazette officielle du Québec on September 13, 2017, came into force on the date of its publication.

The amendments are limited to postponing, to January 1, 2019, the coming into force of requirements for the following categories of appliances:

  • External power supplies,
  • General service fluorescent lamps,
  • Washer-dryers,
  • Clothes dryers,
  • Televisions, and
  • Ceiling fans.
