Reminder: Chief Mountain border crossing remains closed

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reminding travellers that the seasonal Chief Mountain, Alberta border crossing (AB Hwy 6) remains closed until further notice.

The CBSA has not opened Chief Mountain since the start of the pandemic. The continued closure is necessary to ensure enhanced health screening and management of border wait times at the busiest ports of entry.

Travellers driving to Canada must use an alternate port of entry, such as the Carway border crossing (AB Hwy 2) or the Coutts border crossing (AB Hwy 4).

The challenges posed by the pandemic are unprecedented. The CBSA is taking a phased approach to gradually reopen sites still affected by the temporary measures put in place, including the closure at Chief Mountain. We will continue to provide updates as constraints are lifted or amended.
