Softwood Lumber U.S. Trade Remedy Proceedings – Contingency plans for companies without an ACCESS e-filer account

The following message is from Global Affairs Canada.

To customs brokers representing softwood lumber companies, we would be grateful for onward transmission of this notice to your clients.

The U.S. government shutdown continues to impact companies wishing to register for an ACCESS e-filer account, as this registration must be manually approved by Commerce personnel. At this time, companies without an ACCESS account cannot electronically file their request(s) to be included in the administrative review process.

Consequently, Global Affairs has posted contingency plans to our website that companies may wish to follow to file a physical copy of their request(s). This should demonstrate that all possible steps to file before the current deadline were taken.

You can find further information on our Frequently Asked Questions webpage at: https://www.international.gc.ca/controls-controles/softwood-bois_oeuvre/other-autres/faq.aspx?lang=eng. Specifically, in the section titled Impact of the U.S. government shutdown.

As a reminder, please feel free to reach out to us directly by e-mail with any questions or comments at [email protected].

Thank you,
