Update to the Accredited Veterinarian’s Manual

Please be advised that the following modules of the Accredited Veterinarian’s Manual  have been added or updated:

The module has been updated to reflect the requirement to submit the mandatory Excel template via email to the CFIA laboratory for samples submitted for the export of cervids to Mexico.  

The accredited veterinarian who sends samples to the CFIA laboratory for any purpose must keep a copy of the submission form and send a copy to the CFIA district office.

The module has been updated to emphasize that there are no designated land border ports on the Canadian/United States border to Alaska, thus USDA import permit is required prior to entry into Alaska in order to facilitate process of border inspections.

Module 5.6: Export to the U.S.- Horses (http://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/diseases/accredited-veterinarian-s-manual/chapter-5/eng/1345235704516/1345235803337?chap=6)

The module has been updated to emphasize that Canadian horses may enter into Alaska temporarily through a land border port without a USDA import permit, but must exit the US by the 30th day post inspection as listed on the health certificate (HA 1964).

New: ** Module 6.6: Export to Mexico.- Cervids (http://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/diseases/accredited-veterinarian-s-manual/chapter-6/eng/1345240199631/1345240344391?chap=6)

Accredited veterinarians interested in certifying cervids for exportation to Mexico will need to contact their CFIA district office to have this task added to their current agreement. A new agreement will need to be signed. The health certificate is currently available.
