CCS / CTCS - Retired Status
Eligibility
Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist)/CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) – Retired is for those meeting the following criteria:
- a Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) at the time of retirement;
- 55 or older; and
- not employed in the field of international trade.
Individuals who are on long-term disability are also eligible for the Designate Retired status.
Annual Fee
The annual fee is waived.
Verification of Eligibility
Prospective Canadian CCS/CTCS - Retired designates must:
- provide proof of age (minimum age requirement 55) – we will accept copies of birth certificate, driving licence, passport, or any other government-issued document, and
- submit the Request for Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) - Retired Status form.
Professional Development
Individuals holding the Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) – Retired status are welcome to take the CCS quizzes and/or attend approved activities, meetings and events in order to keep up to date, however, there is no requirement to collect points.
How to Return to Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) Status
Those who hold the Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) – Retired status may wish to resume their previous status as Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) designates if they return to work. Individuals will be able to resume their previous status as a Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) if they pay the annual fee, and in the year(s) following, meet the ongoing points requirements.
Revocation of Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) – Retired Status
Status will be revoked if Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designate OR CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) - Retired returns to employment in international trade environment.
