D19-12-2, Importation of Tires

Update to CFIA AIRS Website

CCS Designation Renewal, 2012

We have begun the process of renewal for the CCS designation for 2012. Those CCSs that are paying individually should have received a renewal email with instructions on how to proceed with an online payment. If you have not, please just login to your account and click on the “Renew your CCS designation” link from the CCS Resources menu and follow the instructions to complete your renewal. Once your payment is processed, you will be emailed a receipt that you can use for tax purposes. You may also provide it to your employer for reimbursement.

[U.S.] Customs to expand post-entry processing program as new centers prove their ability to facilitate trade

Entering the Port of Chicago, one pharmaceuticals importer felt as if it were in the movie “Groundhog Day.” The shipper was caught up in red tape every time it brought goods into the port, said Brenda Smith, executive director of trade policy and programs for Customs and Border Protection.

The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today released The Fiscal Monitor for November 2011. Highlights November 2011: budgetary deficit of $1.9 billion There was a budgetary deficit of $1.9 billion in November 2011, compared to a deficit of $4.5 billion in November 2010.

Canadian Ministers Promote Canada as Top Investment Destination

The following is excerpted from a 27 January 2012 news release by the Department of Finance Canada. The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, together with Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, met with key investors and business leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland to highlight Canada’s strong economic fundamentals and pro-trade plan as part of the government’s plan to create jobs and growth at home.

CN 12-002, Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations

Members should take note that Customs Notice 12-002 addresses several amendments to the Energy Efficiency Regulations, including new requirements for non-regulated end-use goods that might include, or be sold with, regulated goods. These amendments come into effect on April 12, 2012.
