Softwood Lumber Products Export Charge Notice

This is to inform you that an Order in Council, a regulatory amendment removing the 10 % temporary additional export charge on softwood lumber products from Option B Regions (Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan), was approved on June 23, 2011. The Order in Council terminates the additional 10% export charge effective July 1, 2011.

WTO trade facilitation deal to reduce trade costs and boost trade - Lamy

Director-General Pascal Lamy, in a speech at the World Customs Organization in Brussels on 24 June 2011, said that the implementation of the Trade Facilitation measures discussed in Geneva could reduce total trade costs by almost 10 per cent. “Every extra day required to ready goods for import or export decreases trade by around 4%”.
