This notice announces a proposed regulatory change in support of the NEXUS and CANPASS programs and the alternative presentation of persons under the Customs Act.

CFIA Validation Process

Earlier this year, the CFIA advised that destination addresses and postal codes for importers, required in ACROSS, would now be validated by CFIA. At the time, there were some difficulties with this process and CFIA have now advised that the validation process will go into effect on April 1, 2011. Details from CFIA follow. Advance Rulings

At the request of members, the CSCB has asked CBSA to confirm the time it should take to obtain an Advance Ruling. CBSA have advised that they make every attempt to meet the time framed noted in D11-11-3. That information is reproduced below. They have also advised that the same standard applies to Origin Rulings, and that they would suggest that 30 days after a request has been submitted, the client or broker might want to follow-up to ensure that the request was received in the Region.

Final Determination Respecting Greenhouse Bell Peppers originating in or exported from the Netherlands On September 20, 2010, the President of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made a final determination of dumping pursuant to paragraph 41(1)(a) of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) in respect of greenhouse bell peppers originating in or exported from the Netherlands.
