Air Canada says it will begin cancelling flights ahead of possible weekend strike

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the union for Air Canada's 10,000+ flight attendants, issued a 72-hour strike notice meaning that flight attendants can walk off the job as early as Saturday at 12:58 a.m. ET.

In response, Air Canada will begin cancelling flights on Thursday before a full cancellation of all flights by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge by the weekend, potentially affecting 130,000 customers a day.

Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz and PAL Airlines are expected to continue operating as normal.
