Amendments to the General Import Permit No. 83 — Aluminum Products

Fulfilling the Commercial Program Directorate’s commitment to keep Departmental Memoranda (D-Memoranda) and Customs Notices in line with legislative/regulatory changes that impact import or export requirements at the border, the CBSA has recently issued the following publications:

Memorandum D19-10-2: Administration of the Export and Import Permits Act (Importations) – to outline requirements for importation Chinese-made electric vehicles
Customs Notice 26-15: Amendments to the General Import Permit No. 83 — Aluminum Products – to outline upcoming requirements to provide information related to country of largest smelt and, if any, the country of second-largest smelt for goods that contain primary aluminum, and - the country of most recent cast for all goods covered by GIP 83.

Afin de respecter l’engagement de la Direction des programmes commerciaux de veiller à ce que les mémorandums ministériels (mémorandums D) et les avis des douanes soient conformes aux modifications législatives et réglementaires, qui ont une incidence sur les exigences en matière d’importation ou d’exportation à la frontière, l’ASFC a récemment publié :

Mémorandum D19-10-2 : Administration de la Loi sur les licences d’exportation et d’importation (Importations) - pour décrire les exigences relatives à l’importation de véhicules électriques fabriqués en Chine
Avis des douanes 26-15 : Modifications apportées au permis général d’importation no 83 — Produits en aluminium - pour décrire les exigences à venir afin de fournir à l’ASFC des renseignements relatifs au premier pays de fusion et, le cas échéant, au deuxième pays de fusion pour les marchandises qui contiennent de l’aluminium primaire, et au pays de plus récent moulage pour toutes les marchandises visées par la LGI 83
