Appeals court questions Trump’s authority to impose tariffs without Congress

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit did not issue a ruling today in the cases questioning the imposition of widespread tariffs by the Trump administration, by invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

The issue now rests with the appeals judges but regardless of what decision the judges’ deliberations bring, the case is widely expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
