ASF – Changes to import permit requirements

Please be advised that the information for Importers to understand feed controls to prevent African swine fever has been updated:

The addition of the references to the Orders for:

Import requirements for plant-based feed ingredients imported for use in livestock feed

  • The addition of the Port of Sorel-Tracy to Appendix 1 (Policy change to take effect September 1, 2026)

Note: Shipments leaving a country of concern on or after September 1, 2026, that will arrive at the Port of Sorel-Tracy, will be required to have a permit to import plant-based feed ingredients of concern.

  • The addition of Finland to Appendix 3.1.

Background and summary of orders made in relation to secondary control zones in respect of African swine fever

  • The addition of a reference to the amendment to the order declaring secondary control zones which now includes the Port of Sorel-Tracy.
  • The addition of Finland to Schedule 1 of the Order

L’ajout des références aux ordonnances intitulée :

Exigences en matière d'importation d'ingrédients d'origine végétale destinés aux aliments du bétail

  • L’ajout du port de Sorel-Tracy à l’annexe 1 (changement de politique entrant en vigueur le 1er septembre 2026).

Note : Les expéditions quittant un pays préoccupant le 1er septembre 2026 ou après cette date et arrivant au port de Sorel-Tracy devront être munies d’un permis d’importation d’ingrédients préoccupants d’origine végétale pour l’alimentation animale.

  • L’ajout d’une référence à la modification de l’ordonnance déclarant des zones de contrôle secondaires, laquelle inclut désormais le port de Sorel-Tracy.

Contexte et résumé des arrêtés relatifs aux zones de contrôle secondaires en ce qui concerne la peste porcine africaine

  • L’ajout de la Finlande à l’annexe 3.1.
  • L’ajout de la Finlande à l’annexe 1 de l’ordonnance.
