Canada announces new measures to address human rights abuses in Xinjiang, China

Further and linked to new CUSMA requirements relating to Forced Labour, Canada is adopting a comprehensive approach to defending the rights of Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities, by addressing the risk of forced labour from any country entering Canadian and global supply chains and protecting Canadian businesses from becoming unknowingly complicit.  Global Affairs Canada has issued a press release as well as related backgrounders.

The CSCB will be discussing the Forced Labour issue later today with Government of Canada officials and will provide members with an update as soon as additional information is available.
