During Minister Anita Anand’s official visit to India from October 12–14, 2025, she and Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reaffirmed their commitment to revitalizing Canada–India relations. Building on guidance from their Prime Ministers at the G7 Summit, the Ministers outlined a New Roadmap grounded in mutual respect, democratic values, and strategic cooperation. They highlighted recent diplomatic milestones, including the reinstatement of High Commissioners and multiple high-level meetings, and emphasized the importance of a resilient bilateral relationship amid global economic and geopolitical shifts. Trade, which reached $23.66 billion in 2024, was recognized as a cornerstone of growth, with plans to resume the Canada–India CEO Forum and initiate ministerial-level trade discussions focused on clean tech, infrastructure, agri-food, and digital innovation.
The joint statement also underscored expanded collaboration in climate action, energy transformation, science and technology, agriculture, and education. Both countries committed to advancing clean energy initiatives, including green hydrogen and carbon capture, and to re-establishing the Ministerial Energy Dialogue. They agreed to deepen cooperation in AI, digital infrastructure, and climate-resilient agriculture, while enhancing people-to-people ties through academic exchanges and cultural programs. The ministers pledged to strengthen institutional capacity in their diplomatic missions and to work together on global challenges, aiming to foster inclusive and effective multilateral institutions.
