The Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, concluded a three-day visit to London from October 14–16, 2025, aimed at enhancing Canada’s energy security and critical minerals supply chains. During the trip, he met with U.K. government officials and industry leaders to promote investment in Canada’s resource sectors and deepen bilateral cooperation on strategic priorities including nuclear energy and emerging technologies. A key milestone was reached with all G7 countries officially naming envoys to the Critical Minerals Production Alliance, setting the stage for further collaboration at the upcoming G7 Energy and Environment Ministers’ Meeting.
Minister Hodgson also advanced discussions on civil nuclear energy, including fusion, through meetings with U.K. energy authorities, building on commitments made by Prime Ministers Carney and Starmer earlier in the year. On the sidelines of London Metal Exchange Week, he engaged with major mining companies and investors interested in Canadian critical minerals. The visit reinforced Canada’s role as a dependable global energy partner, committed to sustainable development and resilient supply chains.
