The CBSA held a CARM Trade Chain Partner Working Group meeting on December 6th. The following documents are available on the CSCB website:

Here are some key notes from the meeting:
- The CBSA is working with CRA and ISED (Innovation Science and Economic Development) for additional outreach on CARM and the necessity for importers to register in the CARM Client Portal.
- There was an outreach pilot project at Pacific Highway targeting C Type importers at the border that will be evaluated and possibly rolled out at other ports across the country.
- The CBSA acknowledges the necessity of NRI outreach outside of the United States and is developing a strategy including a webinar targeted to NRI’s in January 2024.
- The CBSA hears industry concerns about the cutover period of 10 business days when accounting data will not be able to be transmitted however advised it is necessary for CARM implementation. They will be work with trade to minimize the impacts.
- The CBSA committed to a meeting with Service Providers such as Descartes and customs brokers that have proprietary systems to ensure that they are clear on the path forward.
- The Canada Gazette publication that we expected before the end of this year will not be available until at least mid-February.
