CBSA Update on Recent IT Systems Outages

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), in collaboration with Shared Services Canada (SSC), recently experienced IT system outages due to unexpected technical issues during routine maintenance on September 28, not caused by a cyberattack, which led to delays in traveller and commercial processing.

Although initial disruptions were resolved within 48 hours, residual impacts persisted as CBSA worked to clear backlogs. Normal operations have since resumed, and CBSA is investigating the incident and enhancing contingency plans with SSC to prevent future outages. Travellers are thanked for their patience and can check here for current wait times at major land border crossings.
